This derives from those boat flags used by the old Japanese fishermen to signal to their loved ones

that they had a great catch.

Cheerful designs and their boat-names are dyed.

Bold colors were eye-grabbing among the most powerful waves, and portraying a dominating presence that stood

against the strongest winds.

昔、めでたく大漁の時に、

丘で待つ仲間や家族に大漁を知らせ、

また積みきれない程の魚を運ぶのを

仲間に助けてもらうための合図に、

船に掲げた大きな旗を、大漁旗と言います。

沖合いの遠くからでも目立つように派手な色や

柄が使われていました。
