This derives from those boat flags

used by the old Japanese fishermen to signal to

their loved ones that they had a great catch.

Cheerful designs and their boat-names are dyed. Bold colors were

eyegrabbing among the most powerful waves,

and portraying a dominating presence

that stood against the strongest winds.
